April 2010

The Central Lancashire District last met on 26 April 2010 at the
Optima Training Centre in Leyland. The meeting started with a
presentation from Elaine Knox, a member who recently won a ticket
to the IOSH 10 Conference in Glasgow.

Elaine gave an overview of her experience at the conference and
key learning points. This followed with an introductory
presentation from Nina Price at IOSH, the Branch Networks Officer,
on her role and the added support available within the Networks
Department.

The meeting then came on to the main presentation on Global
Harmonised Systems from Dr Stuart Longworth.

8 April 2010

Dear Member

As you may know every June Manchester and North West Districts
Branch hold a joint meeting for all members, regardless of where
they normally meet. Usually details are posted out to members
along with the Branch AGM papers. However, we now have over
2000 members who are electronically active.

With the above in mind we will now send out details of the above
meetings via our eBulletin, Connect,
which is tailored to our Branch. It is important that you review
Connect regularly as it will draw your attention to our Branch’s
latest events as well as direct you to the member's section of the
Branch Website for our AGM page. The website contains the
booking form for the above event as well as the AGM papers.
To reach this you will need to log in on MyIOSH and then follow the links
to the Manchester pages.

The following information will also be given at all Branch and
District meetings:

1) Chairs will inform members that the Branch AGM papers i.e,
agenda, nomination forms, last years minutes, accounts, etc. are in
the members area on the web site at the above address.

2) More importantly, because we have not sent out the AGM
notification papers then we have to use every opportunity to
promote the
joint meeting in June at Barton Grange which as you will know
from previous years has to pre-booked. A lot of planning and
organisation has gone into this event. Also remember that
it’s our own John Holden who will be carrying out his Presidential
visit.
